Jan 23, 1941---Sep 27, 2018

Mr. Glen Elwin Burr, born on January 23, 1941 in Bird City, Kansas, to the late Opal E. (Loyd) Rogers and the late Harry Abraham Burr, passed away at age 77 on September 27, 2018 in Kansas City, Kansas, due to complications of diabetes.

In 1961, Glen enlisted and served in the United States Navy until 1965, then continued in the Naval Reserve until honorably discharged in 1967. He was a Certified Welder at Berkel & Company Contractors, Inc.; constructing commercial earth augers. A video of some of his craftsmanship can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W67KeS5c8vQ; watch for the piece that looks like an enormous drill bit. Glen retired from his work on March 4, 2005.

Glen is survived by his daughter, Tammy Jill (Burr) Photiadis; son, Nathanial Conrad (Burr) VerHage; brothers, Henry "Hank" L. Burr and Kenneth L. Burr; sisters, Clara Marie (Burr) Penner and Nina F. (Burr) Earl; grandchildren, Zoe Rena Photiadis, Andrew "Drew" George Photiadis, Christina Marie VerHage, and Samantha Rose VerHage; great-grandchild, Spencer Kobe Johnson; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Glen had a passion for metal-working, television westerns, and good-humored teasing of his friends and family. You could count on him to help you out with a welding project, and the finished job was so expert that it appeared store-bought. He loved pork chops, chocolate, hot spice, tomato juice, and driving FAST. He had a terrific sense of humor and strong opinions! He enjoyed his solitude, yet was loyal to the loving community that surrounded him. He will always be remembered as playful, warm-hearted, down-to-earth, and generous in spirit.

Rest in Peace, Glen, beloved father, sibling, uncle, cousin, and friend. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
