Julie Ann Oltjen, 51, Overland Park, KS, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at St. Luke's South. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, November 17, at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Main Sanctuary, Bldg, A, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS with the Funeral Service beginning at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Women's Ministry at Church of the Resurrection. Julie was born July 4, 1967, in Norton, KS the daughter of Dillon and Carolyn (Eppinger) Higgason. Julie grew up in Norton and then attended Kansas State University where she graduated in 1989 with a degree in Business Education. While at KSU she met the love of her life Rob Oltjen and they were married on July 29, 1989. Julie and Rob then moved to Garden City, KS where she was a special education teacher and the women's golf coach. While in Garden City she attended Fort Hays State and received her Master's in Special Education. On January 8, 1998 they adopted their bundle of joy Emily Ann. In 1999, Julie became a Mary Kay consultant, and rose to the rank of Director. With Rob's job they lived in Wichita, Lawrence and Des Moines before moving to Overland Park in 2005. Julie was a very active member at Church of the Resurrection where she taught bible studies through Thursday Live, participated in Building Better Moms and served on church committees. She was preceded in death by her father, Dillon Higgason. Julie is survived by her husband of 29 years, Rob, her daughter Emily Ann, mother, Carolyn Higgason, brother, J.D. Higgason and wife Stephanie and daughter Hallie, sister, Kelly Dominguez and husband David and daughter Jenna, Rob's parents, Max and Marilyn Oltjen, Rob's siblings, Terri and Pat Schmitt, Larry and Martha Oltjen, Susan and Richard Hammond, Sandra and Jeff Heline and numerous nieces and nephews. Julie was so loved and treasured by her family and friends. She had a beautiful soul and a strong, determined spirit. She was resilient beyond measure and always grateful. Julie helped people find laughter and the joys in life. She knew what mattered and she enjoyed living life to its fullest. Julie’s love for Jesus was immense. She loved His church and serving Him through women’s ministries. She had a sparkle in her eye; full of light and life. She was well loved, and she loved well."
