Nov 12, 1952---Nov 19, 2018

Stanton Earl Fitch, 66, of Overland Park, KS passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at Kansas City Hospice.  He was born November 12, 1952 at Independence, MO to Glen A. and Esther Louise Fitch.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Steven Fitch, and sister, Beverly Needels.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Michelle; brother Ronald Fitch; daughters Angela Kemp (Kyle) of Lenexa; Leslie Glenn (Jeremy) of Overland Park; sons, Kevin Fitch (Jennifer) of St. Joseph; Eric Fitch (Jill) of Chicago; and seven grandchildren: Ava, Kole and Addison Kemp; Hogan and Lily Glenn, Stearling Fitch, and Rowan Fitch; and many nieces and nephews.

Stan graduated from Turner High School in 1971 and from Emporia State University with a degree in Business in 1975.  He worked for Hallmark for 13 years and 19 years for Overhead Door of Kansas City.

Stan’s favorite pleasure was watching KU basketball.  He also loved music and played in several bands during middle and high school.  Stan coached youth basketball and baseball for girls and boys for many years.  With his dry sense of humor the kids thought him to be very funny.  He played baseball through his youth and was a good bowler.  He pitched and played first base.  Stan survived a tornado in Emporia, Kansas in 1974 and prostate cancer in 2016.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society can be made at the funeral home.

I'm so sad to hear this news. Since the company's move to Olathe, I didn't get to see Stan as often as I did when we were in the North Kansas City buildings. The last time I saw him he was asking for business cards to be printed, and he was dealing with a raspy voice and only half of his voice, and didn't know what the cause was. I was very concerned for him, but didn't know he had been diagnosed with cancer. Oh, what a smile that man had! And a gentle, positive, encouraging spirit! I thoroughly enjoyed bantering with him, talking about KU basketball, people we both knew at Hallmark Cards (I also worked there years ago), and how much he reminded me of my dad. I am BLESSED to have called him a co-worker and friend. My prayers are with your family as you deal with his passing. He will be missed tremendously.

Fitch Family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Stan was such a great man. He was actually my first manager here at DH Pace and he always there to help encourage me along the way. Although we ended up working in different departments, whenever I would see Stan he would always stop me to see how my family and I were doing. As I think back to these many encounters in the office, the thing I valued was how sincere he was in my well-being. Even in the last few months when he clearly wasn't feeling well, he was still more interested in knowing I was doing or my children than talking about himself. I will really miss him. My deepest condolences on your loss. God bless. Mike Maloney
