Merle Ammon, a Vietnam Veteran of the Army, passed away on August 13th, 2022, at the Kansas City VA Medical Center.

Merle was born on December 29th, 1946, to Harvey and Dorothy Ammon.  Merle grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Shawnee Mission East.  Afterword, Merle completed trade school and went on to own his own painting business. Merle was married to his beloved wife Linda for 54 years and had a daughter Lori.

Merle is remembered as a very dedicated family man.  He was loved by many.  He had many passions including hunting, fishing, and tinkering- like building and restoring two Model-Ts at his own home.

He is predeceased by his father, mother, and brother.  He is survived by his wife, daughter, sister, and two grandchildren

The visitation will be from 10-10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 with the Memorial Service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS

So very sorry to hear this Linda ,Lori Debbie I am thinking of you all at this very sad time .Merle was a very kind good man a true gentleman. The expression salt of the earth comes to mind when I think of him .You just knew if you needed anything he would be right there . Linda and Lori, we were so truly sad to hear the news of Merle's passing. He was such an amazing person and was so loved. We have such wonderful memories of Merle and his kind, sweet, funny and calm demeanor. Our hearts are so very heavy. Linda and Lori, I am so sadden to hear of Merle's passing. I always looked forward to seeing him when our families were together. I know Merle's mild mannerism, warm smile and thoughtfulness’ will be greatly missed by everyone.

I'm sorry I didn't visit enough. I'd like to think him and his brother whom I was named after lived long fulfilling lives. I wish we had more time to do the things we want, like visiting family, may we know he was loved and will be missed.
