Donald David Burkard, 62, died Wednesday afternoon, April 17, in Topeka, Kansas. Donald died in hospice care at Kansas Neurological Institute, where he spent most of his life.

He is being buried alongside his late mother, Maxine Burkard, in Kansas City, Kansas. Donald was the son of the late Lawrence A. Burkard of Kansas City.

Donald is survived by brothers, Michael Burkard of Bonner Springs and Richard Burkard of Owensboro, Kentucky; nieces Penny Eckert of Lawrence, KS, Jennifer Meyer of Kansas City, Missouri and Heather Von Bevern of Kansas City; five grandnieces and one grandnephew.

A memorial service is being planned in May at the Kansas Neurological Institute in Topeka, KS.
