It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Lea Thompson a beloved grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, who left us far too soon on June 28th, 2025. Born on February 9th, 1958, in Kansas City, MO, Brenda brought joy and warmth to everyone she encountered. Her unwavering love and dedication to her family were evident in every aspect of her life.
Brenda moved around a lot as a child of the Air Force, but Kansas City became her forever home. After Brenda graduated from dental school at UMKC she became a dental hygienist for most of her career until she became a stay-at-home mom. She also had a passion for astrology and alternative medicine.
She was a beacon of kindness and compassion, always putting others before herself. Her laughter was infectious, and her spirit was indomitable. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and loved, and her home was always open to those in need of comfort and support. She definitely left a lasting impression with everyone she encountered.
Brenda is survived by her husband George and four children, Brandon, Kathryn, Marissa and Luke, who were her pride and joy. Also, her five grandchildren, Emma, Remi, George, Colette and Camden. Her legacy of love and strength will continue to live on through them. Brenda also leaves behind her mother Dortha Dee, and siblings, Susie, Kelly, Shannon and Tim, along with countless friends and extended family who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her father Gerald Gillihan and brother Rusty.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in the cherished memories we hold and the love she shared with us all. Brenda's life was a testament to the beauty of kindness and the power of love.
A celebration of life will be announced at a future date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the incredible life of Brenda. Until then, we hold her in our hearts and continue to celebrate the love she gave so freely.
Rest in peace, Brenda. You will be forever missed and eternally loved.
