Carol A. Kelly, 79, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2026.
Carol was born in Kansas City, Kansas, to Roy and Hazel Dyer. She grew up with her sisters, June and Linda, and lived in Shawnee her entire life. She worked as a bookkeeper and was known for her caring heart, quiet strength, and deep love for her family.
Carol cherished time with her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed having her dogs at home. In her younger days she enjoyed bowling, the lake, and traveling, and listening to Elvis. Her family and friends were very important to her, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carol is survived by her children, Kristi Carlton, Scott Lasater (Joann) her grandchildren, Jimmy Lasater (Katie), Alyssa Lasater, Jace Carlton (Alex), Jeremy Carlton (Kate), Cali Lasater, and Sami Lasater; her sister, June Potts; her great-grandchildren, Cooper and Ezra; Lana and Shawn Kelly, her dog Millie; her granddog, Ace; and many loving friends and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jimmy D. Lasater; her loving sister, Linda Goss; and Roger Kelly.
Carol leaves behind a lifetime of memories filled with family, laughter, love, and friendship. She will always be remembered for her devotion to her family and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Porter Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
