Aug 17, 1959---Sep 06, 2025

Diane Louise Rood joined the love of her life, Tony, in heaven on Saturday September 6, 2025.  She waited patiently for 6 years to join him. We find peace in the knowledge that there was a joyful reunion in heaven that evening.

Diane was born August 17, 1959 in St. Louis, MO, the first child of three, to Betty (Bressie) Robertson and Steve Robertson. Her parents raised, bred and showed Collie's when Diane and her siblings were young and they loved playing with all the puppies. They moved to Wyandotte County, KS next where their father bought the children their first ponies. Diane's pony was named Princess. Diane become a great rider over the years. Their next journey was to Denver. Colorado. Where she continued grade school and riding horses in the mountains with her family. Onto New Mexico next, adding ducks, geese, chickens, and a lamb to their family of horses and dogs. Finally moving back to Kansas City and enrolling at Trailridge middle school. She then attended Shawnee Mission Northwest where she met Anthony Shawn Rood, and they were married March 17, 1979.

Shortly after getting married, Diane and Tony settled in Oklahoma for many years where they had 3 children who they loved deeply. They were both wonderful parents. Creating many magical memories over the years. Family cookouts, movie nights, long weekends camping, and many parties, are just a few that come to mind. They returned to Kansas City finally and settled in Olathe. where their three children finished school and started families of their own.  Diane worked as accountant for many years.  Not long after becoming grandparents, Diane opened a day care in their home where she watched many of their grandkids, family members and other children over years. The way she and Tony continued to be an integral part of their grandchildren's lives is a true testament to their love of family and being parents.

At age 49 Diane battled colon cancer and went into remission after successful treatments. In 2012 the family said a tearful goodbye to their beloved home in Olathe, closed their daycare and started a new journey in Overland Park, KS. They continued to throw parties, take care of their children and grandchildren, friends and neighbors. Diane then battled sepsis in 2018, with Tony and her family by her side. She recovered over the next year, and then suddenly lost her soulmate in May of 2019. She lived with a broken heart until she returned to him on September 6th 2025.

Her children, grandchildren, family, and friends will always remember how caring and thoughtful she was. How she loved to garden and cook with her husband, spend time with her family, take trips, especially to the beach. She was patient, kind, organized, so very strong and sometimes stubborn. She will leave a hole in our hearts.

Left to celebrate her life are her children: Rebecca, Stephanie, and Jennifer. Her mother: Betty Robertson. Her sister. Cathy Robertson:  Her nephew: Chase Robertson.

Grandchildren: Colby, Carson, Samantha, Brooke, Ruthie, Terrell, Isabella, Maxx, Bianca, Aniella, Jack, Quinlan, Liliana, and Finnian

Diane was proceeded in death by her father: Steve Robertson, her brother: Mike Robertson and her husband: Tony Rood

I am so sorry to hear of ur mom’s passing. She was private and so after the death of ur dad, who I appreciated so much, I didn’t get many chances to talk to her. She was always in my prayers though and I did message her thru Facebook. I live a few houses down from where they used to live on Glenwood. I know she adored all of u and her grandchildren. I know ur mom and dad are so happy now together again for eternity.

Remembering the fun times at their house as a child and teen. Riding their horses and spending the night, telling scary stories. We may have been States away but, we would write to each other, tell each other about our boyfriends and then marriage/children and grandchildren. Many hugs and prayers to all her children and grandchildren. Life has been unfair to Diane as she became older. She is now in peace and with her loved ones.

Please accept my sincere condolences. Diane was a gentle soul with a kind word for everyone, and even after Tony died she tried to find peace and understanding in her grief. She was an inspiring patient and always brought a positive outlook to our office.

My heart is saddened by this news. Stephanie and sisters I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom and dad were two of the first people that I met when I moved here and they were the kindest and welcoming souls I have ever known. I can only imagine the pain and sorrow you are going through. Know that your mom lives on in each of you and all the people she and your dad touched over their lifetime. My deepest sympathy for your loss and may god’s grace provide comfort.
