Nov 06, 2002---Oct 24, 2021

Griffin Thomas Lamb, 18 of Lenexa, Kansas died unexpectedly on October 24, 2021.

He was born on November 6, 2002, in Overland Park, KS, to Tige and Vickie Lamb. Griffin was a loving and protective older brother to his sister Amelia. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in May 2020.

Griffin learned at an early age how to make people laugh, lighting up every room he entered and greeting everyone with a big hug and a smile. Blessed with the gift of gab, he always managed to find an audience (one might call him a class clown-much to his parent’s dismay). Griffin also had a knack for entertaining younger kids, whether the siblings of his friends or his youngest cousins—they all loved Griffin.

He lived a life of “keeping the faith” learned from his years of involvement in Life Teen at Holy Trinity. He enjoyed his summers on the Life Teen trips and made every trip memorable with his stories and antics—he was “truly a light in those times”.

Griffin was known for his love of his family, friends, fishing, and riding dirt bikes with his dad. He enjoyed his time traveling with his family on trips to the beach, the mountains, and lakes. He loved learning everything about cars and could spot a make and model from a mile away. Griffin’s social nature found him trying various sports and clubs, and he discovered a love of gaming to become everyone’s favorite video game partner.

His love of cars led him to enroll in the Automotive Technology Program at Pittsburg State University, where he was a freshman. Griffin recently joined the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity to expand his ever-growing group of friends and brothers and made a lasting impact despite his short time with them.

Griffin is survived by his parents Tige and Vickie (Hansen) Lamb and his sister Amelia Lamb; his grandparents Lynn and Darlene Lamb; Gene and Fay Hansen; his aunts & uncles Rick and Laura (Hansen) Urbain; Ryan and Tracy (Lamb) Brown; David Hansen, Mike Hansen; cousins Nick and Zach Urbain & Ian Brown.  He was preceded in death by his uncles Dennis Hansen and Andy Lamb.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 28th from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (13615 West 92nd Street, Lenexa, KS). A funeral Mass will also be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 29th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A burial service will take place Friday at Resurrection Cemetery (83rd and Quivira Road, Lenexa, KS) at approximately 1:30 pm.

Griffin was taken from his friends and family far too early and will be greatly missed.  At this time, in lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made in honor of Griffin to the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation (DBAF) https://dbafoundation.org , so he can continue his legacy of protecting his little sister.

I have known Griffin as one as my close friends for as long as I could remember. The main thing him and I had in common was our love for video games. Even though we went to different high schools we played video games together for at least 15 hours a week. He was the only one who played the “weird” computer games with me like Minecraft and wizard101 and it was some of the best times of my childhood. He was such a great guy who was always there to be a jokester but if you really needed someone to talk too he would know what to do perfectly. We could go a week without talking and could easily pickup like we seen each other yesterday. I know for a fact that he is in a better place now. I have you all in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to the Lamb family, I will keep you in my prayers and keep praying for Gibby’s soul. Gibby was an amazing guy and someone I would trust to make me smile anytime and it’s sad to see him go but I believe Christ has his reasons and he will provide fortitude to all of us especially his family.

Griffin was a good friend to John since grade school. I loved how childlike and silly the boys would be together, no cares in the world except for how can they have fun and make each other laugh. The time and adventures that they shared helped John to became the faith filled, kind hearted and hard working young man. I could not imagine would kind of person John would have become without his dear friend Grif. He also bought cheer to Jim and I. He was respectful, entertaining, and would even help with chores.. probably so John could leave quicker for the next adventure. Thank you for bringing much joy to the Kutney family.

Tige and Vickie, Tom and I have thought of little else since we heard this tragic news. While we don’t personally know you and Vickie or Griffin, we know how much he was loved because we know your mom and dad. We’re so very sorry. It sounds as though he left a loving legacy with many memories for you to cherish. May you find comfort from your pain and always feel his bright light burning in your hearts.

Our deepest sympathies go out to your family. Griffin was a light in this world and I am forever grateful he crossed paths with my son, Adrian. I’ll never forget how welcomed he made my son feel when he first transferred to NW HS. He was one of his first friends there and immediately made Adrian feel included. Thank you for raising such an incredible young man that touched so many lives in his short time here on earth. I’m so sorry he was taken way too soon but I pray the memories bring you comfort over this difficult time. Griffin will forever live on through the love and laugh he gave others! Ours prayers and thoughts are with you all.
