Jack Cooper passed away June 3 at Lakeview Village Care Center.  Jack was born April 20, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis in 2022 and is survived by daughters Virginia Anderson, Susan Cooper and Cynthia Cooper, and five grandchildren. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1948.  Jack received a bachelor's degree in economics and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kansas City (now UMKC).  He was a member of the Missouri Bar and a certified property and casualty underwriter (CPCU). He served four years in the U.S. Navy Reserve and two years in the U.S. Army.

Jack met Phyllis while in law school and they were married in 1955 and celebrated 67 years of marriage.  Jack was employed 33 years by Employers Reinsurance Corporation in Kansas City and Atlanta.  He retired from ERC in 1990. Jack and Phyllis enjoyed many travel adventures to destinations throughout the U.S., Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Israel and Russia. Jack was an avid reader of non-fiction and news/financial publications. He was a generous contributor to charities, volunteered for local churches and the Lions Club, and taught Sunday School in the United Methodist Church for over 30 years. He will be most remembered for his kindness to others and his devotion as a father and grandfather.

A private family burial was held at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
