James (Jimbo) H. Dugan, age 84, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Jim was beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle.  He was a proud Irishman.  A native of Great Neck, New York, James dedicated his life to his family and his faith.

He took immerse pride in being a grandfather to 13 wonderful grandchildren.  His family was his greatest joy and he spoke of the blessings they brought to his life.

A man of unwavering faith, James was a devoted Catholic who lived his life in accordance with his beliefs.

His Strong sense of spirituality was evident in everything he did guiding him and his family through both joyful and challenging times.

James had a passion for Irish music, particularly the songs of Irish band The Wolfe Tones.  Their melodies filled his home bringing warmth and a sense of connection to his Irish roots.  Additionally, he formed peace in the simple act of praying particularly and spending time with the sister’s order known as the Poor of Jesus Christ.

James Dugan was a man whose love and light will be sorely missed, but fondly remembered.  His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren and all those whose lives he touched.

James was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a brother-in-law Harry.

Jim is survived by his children, Michael (Lindsay), William (Mandy), Kim Hastert (Bryan), Seamus and John (Jessica); sisters, Peggy Duggan and Barbara Lanza.  Also, his 13 grandchildren, three nephews and one niece.

His remains rest at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, Kansas.  A Celebration of his life will be held on September 19, 2025.  A Rosary will start at 4:15 pm, followed by a eulogy, with visitation following until 6:00 pm.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date in New York.

You will truly be missed by all. You kept us all going with your great sense of humor, compassion and love of family, Irish heritage, and faith. Your legacy will be remembered and honored indefinitely. My boys and husband send their best. Chris always remembered you jokingly calling him Harry. You're with the angels up above and all our great family members are proud to have you. God Bless your soul.
