Sep 02, 1942---Nov 12, 2025

Jeffrey James Armstrong, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.  Jeff resided in Lenexa, KS after migrating west from Bloomington, IL in 2017 to be closer to his family in the Kansas City area. A memorial service will be held on December 4th, 2025 at 11 am at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.  The family requests donations to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Jeff was born in Evanston, IL September 2, 1942, the son of John and Agnes Armstrong.   Jeff proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968.  He spent most of his working life with State Farm Insurance at Corporate Headquarters in Bloomington.

Jeff was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he enjoyed sports; he was a serious collector and had a wonderful sense of humor.  He suggested a very brief obituary before his passing:  “He did like his stuff!  (there will be a large sale shortly)”

His love of collecting coins as a child grew into a lifelong love of the hunt for unique items and historical artifacts.  He particularly enjoyed researching and learning about his various finds and the story behind them.  He spent much of his free time in Central Illinois haunting various antique stores, garage sales, auctions, and flea markets, and made many friends in the area who enjoyed the same pursuit.  Later in life he focused on historical books and unique works of art.  He spent many years researching and learning about art he found interesting and the stories of the artists behind them.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy (Baker) Armstrong, as well as children Bradley Armstrong, Jennifer Godoi, John (Michelle) Armstrong and grandchildren Kelly, Carter, Logan, Georgiana, Elizabeth, Wesley and Juliet.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and John Armstrong.  A third brother, Greg Armstrong, passed away just a few days after Jeff.  Another brother, Larry Armstrong, and a sister, Barbara Armstrong, survive.
