Leslie “Doc” Wiscombe walked off the 18th hole of life on October 31, 2026, after waving and blowing a kiss to the love of his life, his wife, Jude, and the family he adored.
Born June 18, 1939, in Cass City, Michigan, to Sam and Leola Wiscombe, Doc graduated from Pontiac High School and earned his bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from Ferris State College in 1961. After practicing pharmacy in Michigan, he moved to Kansas City to pursue his dream of becoming a physician. He graduated from the University of Kansas City School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1971.
Doc's greatest passions were his family, his medical career, and golf. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and foster father. His greatest joy was a house full of family, especially at birthdays and Christmas. Looking at Jude, he would proudly say, “We did this!” And they certainly did.
Doc loved being a physician. During his 50-year career, he delivered more than 1,000 babies and especially enjoyed obstetrics and pediatrics. He retired in 2020 but often said he missed practicing medicine every day.
He was also an enthusiastic golfer who cherished the friendships, competition, and camaraderie the game brought. When golf was over, there was always a spirited game of gin.
Doc is survived by his loving wife, Jude; sisters, Inez and Lois; children, Paul, Paige, Peggy Bailey, Tipton Dalton, and Tiana; grandchildren, Perry, Reilly, Ian, Isabella, Sophia, and Zach; five great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Perry, and daughter, Vanessa.
Doc leaves behind a family who adored him, countless patients whose lives he touched, and friendships and memories that will last forever.
In lieu of flowers, Doc would ask that you perform a simple act of kindness in his memory. Help a neighbor, donate to your favorite charity or Operation Wildlife, offer a helping hand, or simply share a smile.
Love your family fiercely, take pride in what you do, enjoy the friendships along the way, never give up a good game, and always make room for kindness.
Well played, Doc. You will be missed more than words can say.
A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2026 with a eulogy at 6:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, Lenexa, Kansas.
