Mark Joseph Schroeger, 83, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away surrounded by family on August 21, 2026. Mark was born on May 22,1943 in Lynn, Massachusetts to George and Martha Schroeger. He was the first of nine children. 
 
Mark attended St. Elizabeth grade school and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1961. In 1963, Mark joined the United States Coast Guard where he served as a Boatswain Mate, 2nd Class. Mark served until 1967. Mark worked for Schroeger and Sons Insurance Agency and then Liepsner and Co. until his retirement. Mark enjoyed working with the Shawnee Jaycee’s where he was a Jaycee Senator. He was also a founding member of the Schroeger Brothers BBQ team with his brother Paul. Schroeger Brothers BBQ won the American Royal BBQ Championship in 1988 and went on to compete in the Jack Daniels Invitational BBQ contest in Lynchburg TN. 
  
Mark was preceded in death by parents George and Martha (Schmid) Schroeger, brother Paul Schroeger and sisters Susan (Schroeger) Cronin and Barbara (Schroeger) Nedrow-Toth and Niece Sara Cronin. 

Mark leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Kathy (Hall) Schroeger. Sisters, Mary (Cliff) Thomas of Yuma Arizona, Anne (Dick) Hoelting of Shawnee KS., Liz (Dave) Johnson of Raleigh North Carolina. Brothers, Michael (Doris) Schroeger of Shawnee KS. and Matthew (Rachel) Schroeger of Leavenworth KS., Sister in Law Roseanne Schroeger of Kansas City, KS. and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. 
  
A celebration of Life will be Monday, August 31st at 2:00pm at Lakeview Village, 9100 Park St, Lenexa, Kansas. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marks name to Evergreen Hospice 11875 S. Sunset Dr. Lenexa, KS. 66061.

Mark and I were close friends throughout high school. I remember many fun times at the Schroeger barn on Nieman Rd, My wife and I just saw him recently at a funeral Mass for a family member in Overland Park, KS. He and I had birthdays in the same month. I am saddened by his passing. May he rest in peace.
