Mary Jean Winterman, 66, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away peacefully at home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Mary Jean was born April 19, 1959 in Kansas City, MO to Anne Y. & Richard T. Winterman, the 2nd of 6 children.
She grew up in Mission, KS, graduating from Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic School, Bishop Miege High School and Kansas State University, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Her career started in Kansas City as the manager of a savings & loan, but then took her to Los Angeles, Seattle & Salt Lake City, working in consumer product sales.
As a young adult she enjoyed adventurous activities; traveling to Europe, hiking, repelling and snow skiing.
Retirement took her to Chattanooga, TN where her time was spent attending live music events, taking walks, watching Hallmark movies and spending time with friends & family.
Mary Jean had an infectious smile, a big heart and was a woman of faith. She treasured her family and took the role of “Aunt Jean “ seriously, staying in frequent contact with her 10 nephews & nieces.
Her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by her siblings; Paul ( Pam) Winterman, Rich (Susan) Winterman, Grace ( Scott) Bailie, Kurt Winterman, Amy Jo ( David) Compton, and her adoring nephews & nieces: Emily( Austin) Poist, Natalie (Jonny) Lefko, Michael( Riley) Bailie, Gabby Compton, Luke (fiancée Madeline) Winterman, Zach (Ashley & great-niece Maureen) Winterman, Josh (Sinclaire) Compton, Savanna Winterman, Joe Compton & Christopher Bailie.
The visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m. with the Rosary being prayed at 10:15 a.m. and the Funeral Mass following at Queen of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st St., Overland Park, KS. Entombent will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Catholic Charities or Mary Jean’s church; Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Soddy-Daisy, TN.
