Nov 13, 1965---Sep 06, 2025

Mary Sue Clark (maiden name McDonnell), 59, Olathe, KS, passed away Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Mary was born on November 13, 1965, to John (Jack) McDonnell and Rita McDonnell (Schaefer) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jack and Rita moved the family to Omaha, NE, when their kids were in primary school. From there, Mary graduated from Burke High School in 1984. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.  It was here that she would meet her future husband, Jeffery Clark, also of Omaha, NE. Jeff and Mary were married on July 9, 1994, at St Bernard’s Catholic Church. Mary started her career as an Elementary School teacher for Omaha Public Schools, and later worked in Lewisville Independence School District in Lewisville, Texas. She continued to work as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher until the family moved to Olathe, Kansas, in 2000, where she then transferred to work for Learning Care Group.

Mary and Jeff were blessed with two sons and a daughter. They loved to share that each child was born in a different state. Tyler Daniel was born in Omaha, Nebraska; Amanda Marie, born in Lewisville, Texas; and Grant Alexander was born in Overland Park, Kansas. Tyler married Emily Grandgenett in 2021, and they welcomed their first child, Charlotte Ann Clark, in 2024. Not only did Mary have a close immediate family, but throughout all the places she lived, she had a large found family.

Mary was always doing things with her family and friends. Between going to friends' houses for wine, golf with the gals, visiting family all over, going on dog walks, and shopping dates, she was constantly booked and blessed. It would be rare to find Mary without any plans for the weekend. Even this month, Mary was planning on being in Omaha 4 weeks in a row, and was especially looking forward to her Granddaughter’s first birthday in a few weeks.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Jeff, and her parents, Jack and Rita, as well as her mother-in-law, Theresa Clark. She is survived by her son Tyler (Emily), daughter Amanda, son Grant, granddaughter Charlotte, father-in-law Al Clark, sister Patty Bain (Kevin), brother Tom McDonnell (Rene), 13 nieces and nephews, and numerous family and friends.

Mary made a huge impression on me by her kindness and the ease of which she made you feel heard when you held a conversation with her. She laughed very easily and joyfully!!! She loved Jeff to the moon and back and was so proud of her children and so grateful to be a grandmother! I miss you Mary and I love you forever cuz!!!

We have so many great memories of Mary and Jeff when they lived in Omaha. I taught with Mary and she was one of the sweetest people I knew. Marc had a special place in his heart for her too. Jeff lived in the apartment below Annie. When Annie passed away, Mary made sure I knew about the memorial held later after COVID. We went together. She was so thoughtful. She touched our lives and she influenced so many people that we won’t know until we all get to heaven. Remember, time heals. She will always be remembered and be missed terribly.

I met Mary several years back in Wichita. From the first time we met, she left an impression. She was always a listening ear over the phone and in person. When I said her name, it was always Mary Clark. I say this because even at my home my family knew Mary Clark. When I said it, it was like everyone was supposed to know who she was. Like her, her named packed presence. I never told her that. She was a sweet and kind person. My recent memory is her coming to Wichita and reconnecting. We both looked at eachother and reached out with a big smile. She said I don’t usually give hugs and she hugged me. Your family has my deepest sympathy. She will be greatly missed.
