Nov 13, 1974---Oct 17, 2026

Meredith Lamb, 51, most recently of Los Angeles, California, passed away suddenly on October 17, 2026, following a ruptured cerebral aneurysm.

She was born in Kansas City, Kansas on November 13, 1974, to Gerald and Alyce Elliott and raised in Lenexa and Overland Park. Meredith attended high school at Notre Dame de Sion, studied and performed with American Dance Center, Starlight Theatre, and the Theatre in the Park, among other stages. She went on to study at the University of Iowa, where she accepted a dance scholarship, was a member of the Tri Delta sorority, and earned a degree in elementary education. It was at the University of Iowa that Meredith met the love of her life, Greg, in 1993. The two were married in Overland Park, Kansas in 1998.

Meredith was heavily involved in the Kansas City theatre community for many years, performing countless shows in addition to choreographing. Her time as Jennyanydots in Theatre in the Park’s production of Cats during the summer of 2006 was a particular highlight and a memory she cherished throughout her life. After moving to Iowa City, Iowa, she performed with Iowa City Community Theatre and Nolte Academy. Meredith also directed for and served as the board chair of Young Footliters and was responsible for the partnership between Young Footliters and Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.

Meredith was an extraordinary, caring, and dedicated teacher who was part of Ascension Catholic School’s inaugural faculty. She went above and beyond for her students every day and is fondly remembered by generations of first graders as well as every teacher with which she worked. After Meredith and Greg welcomed their first child, she retired from teaching to dedicate herself to raising her children.

Meredith’s family was her greatest pride and joy. She dedicated everything to creating magical memories for her children and providing them with every opportunity to pursue their passions in the arts. She prayed constantly for her family and used her love of teaching to homeschool her three children. Her home was always filled with music, song, creativity, love, and joy. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the happiness she created will never be forgotten.

Meredith later paired her love of teaching with her passion for the arts as part of the senior staff of Broadway Artists Alliance. She was a beloved and integral part of the organization, serving as a mentor and advisor to both parents and students alike. She was every child’s biggest cheerleader and her infectious passion lifted up everyone around her. Meredith also worked with many young actors as a private coach. Her warmth and bubbly personality captured the hearts of her students and allowed her to share her knowledge and passion with everyone.

Meredith is survived by her husband, Greg, of 28 years, her three children, Regan, Alyssa, and Matthew, her sister, Alyson Sobanek (Mark), her parents, Gerald and Alyce Elliott, aunts, uncles, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, to whom she was the much adored “Mimi”.

A visitation at 1:30pm and funeral mass at 2:30pm will be held at Church of the Ascension in Overland Park, Kansas on Tuesday, October 27. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4:00pm-7:00pm at Fiorella’s Event Space (9000 W 137th Street, Overland Park, KS).

Meredith’s family is establishing the Meredith Lamb Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor her extraordinary legacy in education and the arts. Scholarships will help recipients pursue their passions in musical theatre, ballet, dance, and other performing arts disciplines at qualifying schools, summer intensives, and training programs of their choice. We are currently finalizing the final details of the scholarship and cannot accept gifts at this time. Formal details and donation instructions will be shared with friends and loved ones as soon as they are finalized.

Meredith and I spent many hours together in the Nolte lobby and wings trading stories, laughter, and challenges of motherhood and the arts. I always appreciated the strength, courage, and dedication she had to place the arts at center stage for herself and those she loved. She will be deeply missed. Sending love to Greg, Regan, Alyssa, Matthew and the rest of the family.
