Nicholas (Nick) Allen Leet, 34, Shawnee, KS, passed away March 7, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 13th at 12pm at The American Legion Post 16, 6521 Nieman Rd, Shawnee, Kansas 66203 with Interment to be announced at a later date. A luncheon and drinks will follow in the American Legion club downstairs following the service. The family asks that attendees dress in Chiefs, Royals, Jayhawks, Phish, Tie Dye, or St. Patrick's Day attire.

Nick was born in Merriam, KS, on November 4th, 1986. The oldest of 3 children, Nick spent his youth growing up in Lawrence, KS.  He graduated from Lawrence High in 2005 and was a veteran of the US Navy. In his youth, he was a pure athlete and regardless of the sport, he was always a fierce competitor.  His favorite sport was springboard diving where he competed and achieved great success at the state and national level. Nick was an avid music fan and loved Jam Bands like the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers, but his absolute favorite was Phish. Whether it was the Chiefs, the Royals or the Jayhawks, if it was on TV, Nick was watching. What he loved most in life was being around his family.  He never missed a family gathering. His absolute greatest joy was spending time with the light of his life, his daughter Heidy. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Wendall Burns & Frank Leet and Aunt Mary Kay Leet.

He is survived by his daughter Heidy and wife Stephanie, parents Frank and Teri Leet, brother Jacob, sister Kendra and (future husband) Brett McMillan, Grandmother Eleanor Burns, grandparents Pat and Dick Quillen, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

I have known the Leet family since I started my sophomore year at LHS in 2003 I graduated with Nick in 2005 and we were very close friends all through high school after high school we lived and worked together at Carlos’O’Kelly’s for a year or more I have spent a lot of time with him and his family he will be greatly missed. I Had even worked with him recently at the Federal Reserve Bank I am a fire alarm inspector And was so shocked to walk in and see his face smiling cracking jokes his laugh was contagious so ornery and great to be around my heart is saddened for this loss and for his young family I wish nothing but the best for all of you may God bless you all through this loss.

It's hard to put into words how very sad we were to learn of Nick's passing. As next-door neighbors to Wendall and Eleanor for many years, we loved getting to know Teri and Mike and watching them grow up and have their own families. It was so fun when we could get your little Nick and our little Natasha together for playdates. We very much enjoyed reconnecting with Nick a few years ago at his grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary celebration and meeting Stephanie. He was full of love and happiness. May God bless all his loved ones and especially his little daughter.
