Dec 19, 1939---May 22, 2025

Sue Ann (Stewart) Grosdidier, 85, of Mission, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at

Homestead of Shawnee.

On June 14, 2025, a visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00

a.m. at St. Pius X Church in Mission, Kansas. Burial at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Sue was born in Kansas City, Kansas, December 19, 1939. She truly believed in the

communities in which she lived: her immense pride in her Wyandotte County roots and her civic

involvement in the city of Mission. Sue was a 1957 graduate of Bishop Ward High School. She

continued to value education and learning her entire life, which was evident in her attending

Mount St. Scholastica College and Donnelly College; graduated from St. Mary’s College with an

accounting degree; and later earned an MBA from the University of Kansas. While going to

school part-time, Sue worked at the Catholic Church Chancery Office, St. Pius X Church and

the City of Mission as the city clerk and later served on the city council.

Sue was a devout Catholic her entire life. Before her illness, she faithfully prayed the rosary on

her daily walks. Sue leaves a legacy of many memories for her family and friends: Involvement

in her children’s grade school activities; traveling, especially to Europe; tending her summer

flower garden; reading and visiting the public library; her beautiful crocheted/knitted afghans;

and spending time with her cherished grandchildren and lifelong friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Frances Stewart and brother John W.

Stewart all of Kansas City, Kansas.

Sue’s love lives on through her children and sister: Bill Grosdidier (Carrie) of Olathe, Jim

Grosdidier (Pam) of Leavenworth, Jane Regan (Kerry) of Lenexa, Betsy Schuler (Chris) of

Indianapolis; twelve grandchildren, Elise (Alberto), Andy, Nick (Madi), Alex, Maggie, Raymond,

and Robert Grosdidier; Colleen, Eddie (Paige) and Matthew Regan; Bailey and Courtney

Schuler; two great-grandchildren, Remy and Rhodes Regan; sister, Teresa Druten of Overland

Park and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to Mount St. Scholastica

Convent (Atchison, KS) or St Pius X Church.

A special thanks to the loving and caring staff at Homestead of Shawnee, as well as her many

lifelong friends, who provided care and support to her and her family.

Sue and I attended the same high school, but weren't close friends until much later, in our 60's, having bonded by the experiences of dealing with Alzheimer's in our family. We had fun; traveling twice to Rome and once to Paris, with other US trips as well. Sue was intent on visiting all the famous churches and basilicas in each area; a testament to her faith. But we also met close to home at least once a month for martini night to exchange stories. Political and current news was always a hot topic because we both had strong opinions which made for lively conversation. It was obvious that she loved her family dearly, and they loved their Grandma Sue in return. I'm sure her family has wonderful memories of her love for them.

My condolences to Janie, Bill, Betsy and Jim! Sue was a lifelong friend. We originally met in Kindergarten at St. Anthony’s Grade School. It was truly friendship at first sight! Both of us went to Ward High School and proceeded to work on all the Class reunions up to the final 50th! I will miss Sue Ann and was planning on taking her to lunch at Garrozzo’s for her favorite dish, Saltimbocca when Janie alerted me of her condition! Jimmy

Dear Jane, I am so very sorry about the passing of your mom. Even when, in so many ways, you had lost her already (as I did with my dad), it's especially hard to have her truly gone. No matter what the circumstances, it is heartbreaking to lose your mother. She was such a vibrant woman and that is how I will always remember her. I have a commitment on Saturday mornings, so I won't be able to attend the service - so sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all of your family. With affection, Marsha Russell

Dear family of the impeccable Sue Grosdidier: I never met anyone with more energy, a great sense of humor, and amazing grace under pressure than Sue. Working for St. Pius X was a joy because Sue believed that everyone should have each other's back and that everyone shared equally in the mission of the church and school. I learned so many things from Sue about our community which, in turn, made me more dedicated in my role as liturgist and music director. She was always ready to help print a program or give a loving pat on the back that things looked good or you were doing a good job. Support in every way, even during the difficult or sad times- that was Sue for the entire parish! I know Sue is resting in our Lord's arms now for all eternity. May your good memories bring you comfort in the days ahead! With my love and prayers, Mary Jo Mahoney🎶
