In Loving Memory of Susan D. Laier (Harlow)

February 4, 1951 – October 7, 2026

Susan D. Laier (Harlow), of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away on October 7, 2026. Born on February 4, 1951, Susan will be remembered for her lively personality, her love of laughter, and her desire to make sure everyone around her was having a good time.

Susan had a special way of bringing energy and laughter into a room. Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Susan enjoyed being the center of attention and had a personality that made her presence known.

Although Susan knew little about sports, that never stopped her from enthusiastically cheering on her beloved Kansas City Chiefs. Her loyalty to the team was a reflection of her spirited nature and her ability to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Harlow; her mother, Edith Harlow; her brother, Mike Harlow; and her husband, James Laier.

She is survived by her son, Shawn Ferguson; her daughter-in-law, Jamie Ferguson; her grandchildren, Kennedy and Tae’a Ferguson; her great-grandchildren, Jax Harlow Reed and Isla Sage Mozingo; her brother, Brent Harlow; her sister-in-law, Mary Harlow; and her nieces and nephews, Andrew Harlow, Hunter Harlow, Julee Harlow, and Jessie (Harlow) Clements. As well as her 2 great-nieces. 

Susan will be remembered for her love of laughter, her vibrant personality, and the joy she sought to bring to those around her. Though she will be  deeply missed, her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 14, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS.
