Feb 19, 1950---Oct 25, 2025

William James Boyer, Jr., also known lovingly as Pop Pop and Bill, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 25, 2025 at the age of 75 in Olathe, Kansas.

Bill was born in Chicago, Illinois to his mother Ellen Twomey and father William Boyer, Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his older siblings John Sheehan and Elizabeth Sciortino. An avid dog lover, Bill is also preceded in death by his dogs Jack, Cooler, Otto, and Rosie.

Bill led an amazing life of public service, serving in the U.S. Army and participating in active combat in the Vietnam War as well as leading a devoted career in law enforcement. Bill’s true passion however was his family. A devoted husband to Teresa and father to Adam, he always put his family first, wanting nothing but the best for them. He was a loving grandfather, or Pop Pop, to his granddaughters Anna and Evelyn and adored his daughter-in-law, Michelle. Bill loved dogs, the northwoods of Wisconsin and Minnesota, ships, and trains and could often be found watching YouTube videos of ships entering the harbor in Duluth, Minnesota.

Bill is survived by Teresa, Adam, Michelle, Anna and Evelyn, his sister Dorothea, as well as his beloved dogs Henry, Beatrice, and Pookie and his granddogs Bailey and Rosemary. A simple funeral mass, as Bill would want, will be held on Wednesday, October 29 at 9:30 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to one of the fine organizations below: Villa St. Francis Hospice Care, Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission or Great Plains SPCA.
