Marvin L. Brown, 92, of Shawnee KS (formerly of Peel, AR) passed away in the home on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018.  He was born and lived in Gillham, AR until he was drafted into the Armed Services in 1943.  He served as a Ball Turret Gunner in the Army Air Corps, flying bombing raids over Germany during World War II as part of the U.S. 8th Air Force, the “First Over Germany.”  He was discharged in 1945 after victory was declared in both Europe and Japan.


 


He made his home in Kansas City, KS where he met and married JoAnn, his wife of 70 years, and worked as an electrician for the Kansas City Kansas Board of Education for 20 years.  In 1978, he became a small business owner when he purchased the Highway 125 Boat Dock in Peel, AR.  After 10 years, he sold the business and retired, living at their home in Peel until 2014, when he and his wife moved to Kansas City to be closer to some of their children and grandchildren.


 


Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, JoAnn Brown, four children – Richard (Anna), Alan, Patty Brown Freeman (Tim), and Larry (Trish) – five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.


 


Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018  at the Holmeswood Baptist Churh, 9700 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO.   Masonic Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 at Holmeswood Baptist Church.  Funeral Services to follow officiated by Rev. David McDaniel.   Internment will be at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lead Hill Post #10417, 6966 Milum Dr., Lead Hill, AR  72644.
