Roger Dale Clark, 71, of Overland Park Kansas and formerly Marmet, West Virginia, passed away on February 9th, 2019 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Roger was born August 3rd, 1947, the son of Wallace Lee Clark Sr. and Irene H Bowen both of Marmet, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Clark of 51 years, that he cherished; his daughter Sheila Cowan and her husband Scott Cowan; his son Dale Clark; and three wonderful grandchildren Scott Cowan Jr.; Holly Poplion; and Corey Cowan; two great-grandchildren Kalvin and Kami Poplion. His brothers Vernon Clark; Donald Clark and Wallace Clark, Jr.; and one sister, Phyllis Carver. He was proud of his many cousins, nieces, nephews and all of his extended family.
Roger was one of 13 children and is preceded in death by his brothers Jim, Charlie, Frank, Harold, Emil, Jack and William Clark; and one sister Brenda Clark. He had so many siblings that they ended up calling the street they lived on Clark Drive and the hill they lived on Clark Hill.
Roger joined the United States Army in January 1968 and was stationed in South Korea during part of the war and was so proud of his country and the time he served. He worked at Fairbanks Morse Pump Corporation until his retirement after 47 years of service.
He loved all sports, but baseball held a special place in his heart. He played baseball growing up and throughout his military career. He then changed over to coaching from little league all the way up to competitive baseball sponsored by The American Legion.
Roger and Gerry enjoyed watching their grandchildren play baseball, going on vacation together and above all Christian fellowship. He treasured time spent with family and friends.
Roger and Gerry lived to serve the Lord. As a member of Pathway Church, he was part of the Worship team and he served on the Board. Roger served on other Church Boards throughout his lifetime. Roger was a part of a contemporary southern gospel music group, Pathfinders. They ministered to skilled nursing facilities and various churches.
Roger will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
