Joseph V. Sixta, 94, Shawnee, KS passed away June 23, 2019, at the Brookdale of Shawnee. The Rosary will be prayed at 4:45 p.m with the visitation from 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 1 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 5501 Monticello, Shawnee KS 66226. The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 2 at Sacred Heart. Burial 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd St. Kansas City, KS 66104 or the Alzheimer's Association. Joe was born October 1, 1924 in Kansas City KS the 4th child out of 18 children born to Ernest and Elizabeth (Klein) Sixta. He was a 1942 graduate of Bishop Ward High School and then served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He had worked at the General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant for 30 years retiring as a general foreman of the Hard Trim Line in 1977. After retirement Joe worked at his farms in Nortonville and Winchester KS and loved flying his plane around Jefferson County. He was a former member of Christ the King Catholic Church in K.C.K. and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the G.M. Retirees Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Mary Sixta and Dolly Arensman Sixta, his son, Joseph T. Sixta and 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Joe is survived by his wife, Nancy, 4 daughters and their husbands, Janey and Mark Kuzila, Susie Taylor, Ruthie and Rick Wiseman, Shelly and Barry Sullivan, daughter-in-law, Mary M. Sixta, 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, Nancy's daughter, Elizabeth Robertson and husband Kent and their son, Steven, 9 brothers and sisters, Rita Simpson, Rose Ann (Dani) Stolte, Marcella (Bunny) Bragdon, John (Jack) Sixta, Sylvia Harrison, Madonna Davis, Patricia Krambeck, Peggy Kehne, Vickie Willits and numerous nieces and nephews.
