Rose Mary Von Behren, 86, Olathe, KS, has gone to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at the Homestead of Olathe.  Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a Memorial Service following at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, at the Porter Funeral Home  8535 Monrovia Lenexa,  KS.  Inurnment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.  Memorial contributions may be made to: Crossroads Hospice. 

Rose Mary was born August 15, 1933, in St. Louis, MO, and was a graduate of Beaumont High School.  She moved to Shawnee, KS, in 1960, with her family and daughters, Karen and Sharen.  She attended Hope Lutheran Church in Shawnee starting Hope Lutheran Pre School in 1961, where she was known as Miss Rose.  She became a LPN in 1979 working at KU Medical Center until she retired.   

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary E. Dawson, and brother, William Dawson.She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Terry) Kitterman and Sharen (Lee) Lucero, sister, Loretta Niemeyer, grandchildren, Ryan (Crystal) Alisha, Matthew (Nicole), Aaron, Jastin and Jetaya, and 3 great-grandchildren, Clara, Avery and Owen.  

 

The family wants to thank all the employees at Homestead South and Crossroads Hospice for the excellent care given to our mom.

I met Rose the weekend we moved in across the street from you on Rosehill. She was SO pretty and brown as a berry in her bikini. She was so adorable. Your mom was a wonderful neighbor for many years and I have great memories of our visits all those years. She was fun and had a wonderful kind heart. My prayers and love to all of your family.

I am saddened to read of Rose's passing. I worked with Rose in the 1980's at KU Med. She was so much fun to work with! I received a Christmas card from her yearly until just a few years ago. I will remember with fondness her smile and sense of humor. Please accept my condolences.
