I am so sorry for this families loss & I extend my prayers and thoughts towards the Mays family. Layne was truly the most kindest, genuine, positively amazing teammate the KSU IHSA team could all ask for. As a team captain she fulfilled her role to the max making sure everyone was taken care of. She never failed to uplift everyone’s spirits and was a key factor in making our team come together as one. Our long road-trips together to horse shows on the weekends are so memorable to me. She made my first year here in Kansas one of the most happy and pleasurable times of my life. Besides being an amazing teammate she was an awesome friend. Her friendship meant a lot since she was always willing to give out advice and give positive feedback to me. Layne was absolutely loved by everyone she interacted with and i’m so glad I was able to share some amazing memories together that are unforgettable. Once again my prayers and thoughts are always with the Mays family and if there is anything I can do to help out during this painful time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me .

I can not begin to express my deep sincere sorrow over your loss of actually not one, but two, children in many ways. I can only imagine the depth of pain felt in your hearts. As I have told many grieving families over the years, my best advice for you is the following-- think of 5 memories for each child that makes you really smile or giggle when you think of that memory of them. Think of those 5 memories frequently, for the more often you think of them, the fresher they will remain in your heart and mind. No one can ever take your 5 special chosen memories from you. When times are tough or you feel like crying or you are having a particularly bad day, pop one of those memories into your brain and it will quickly improve the outcome and turn the situation around. Those 5 memories will always help carry you through. The hurt and pain will still be there, but the edge will be softened just enough to help you. Think of them often. The 5 memories can never be thought about too much! My heart and prayers are with you. If you every need an ear to listen, a heart to cry to...I'm here always...24/7!
