Gilbert Q. Avila, 83, Kansas City, KS died on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS.

 

Gilbert was born February 21, 1937 in Kansas City Kansas the son of Gilberto and Maria (Quiroz) Avila. He had worked for the Santa Fe Railroad retiring 1992. Gilbert loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and working on his cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Charlene, a son, Harold LaHue and siblings. Gilbert is survived by 5 children, Kenneth LaHue, Clifford LaHue, Rita Vallejo (David), Angela Avila, Gilbert Avila, his siblings and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dear cousins, We are so sorry for your loss. Although we cannot attend Uncle Gilbert's memorial, please know you are in our prayers. Our eternal hope is that he and our dearly missed Aunt Charlene are reunited in the presence of Jesus. These are unsettled days in many ways, but the love we have for one another (despite the distance) attests to the power of connection. You are not alone in your sorrow.
