Jun 28, 1980---Oct 10, 2020

Troy Robert Hamlin passed unexpectedly into the arms of his maker on October 10, 2020 to be forever embraced in God’s glory.

Troy was born June 28, 1980 in Washington D.C. as the son of COL(R) Elwood R. Hamlin II and Catherine A. Hamlin (Rauschert).  He graduated from Moanalua High School in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1999.  Following his graduation, he attended Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the class of 2003.  Graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science, Troy entered the commercial construction field where his mechanical aptitude, work ethic and problem-solving skills earned him a reputation of excellence and reliability.

His defining moment came when he married the love of his life, Christine Glywa on March 4, 2013.  Over the years, Troy and Christine welcomed their cherished children, Carter and Grace, to the family to bring a tremendous amount of joy and pride to his life.  His family was the focal center of his universe.  As their father, mentor, and coach, Troy continually volunteered to coach his children’s sports teams and was dedicated to the happiness and development of their character.  To all who know and love him, Troy possessed an insatiable curiosity that allowed for an abundance of hobbies and interests.   He shared with Christine a true passion for collecting and restoring classic cars.  In addition, he had a love for historical research of his family name and heritage.  His other hobbies included Texas A&M football and travel with family and friends.  Troy will be forever remembered as a devoted husband and dedicated father and his love, his character, and his presence will carry on in our hearts forever.

Troy is survived by his loving wife, Christine Glywa Hamlin of Overland Park, Kansas and his beloved son Carter (7) and daughter Grace (4).  He is also survived by his adoring parents COL(R) Elwood R Hamlin II and Catherine A Hamlin of Highland Beach, Florida.  He leaves behind his sister, Jill H Parnell and husband Ward Parnell of Houston, Texas, and children, Catherine, Cade, and Caroline; and his brother Todd R Hamlin and wife Amanda Hamlin of Houston, Texas and children, Michael and Cooper; his father and mother-in-law Robert and Vera Glywa and his brother-in-law Michael Glywa and wife Cori Silliman and children, Brayden and Kinley.

Troy is preceded in death by his cherished grandparents, Robert and Edith Rauschert, and Elwood and Lillian Hamlin, each of Sacramento California.

A ceremony for family and close friends will be held Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Porter Funeral Homes and Crematory in Lenexa, Kansas.  Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m.  A virtual service will be made available and is encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks you to consider a donation in Troy’s name through GoFundMe in support of his young children’s educational trust.

I'm so sorry to hear this tragic news. Troy was my pledge brother and suite mate in Sigma Chi at Texas A&M. I was lucky to know him and had hoped to reconnect in the coming months during a reunion we were trying to plan. I know without ever having met his wife and kids that he was an incredibly fun and loving father and husband. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. This was way too soon.

The sudden passing of Troy and the other men in the accident are a reminder to us all how precious our time is here on earth and how we must cherish each day and our loved ones. I was so sad to hear of Troy‘s passing earlier this week. I had the pleasure of knowing Troy through stonhard and we have stayed in touch over the years when he made his transition from our construction management group to territory manager. I had just spoken to Troy on the phone the day before his death. Troy was a happy, energetic, and overall great guy and he will be missed. Rest in peace brother

With much love and admiration for Christine, I offer my heartfelt condolence in Troy's passing. I believe I met Troy only once, long enough to shake his hand and exchange a few words. Hearing Christine and her brother Mike talk over the last several years made me feel I knew him more. To Christine and her young ones, and to all the extended family, I wish I could do or say more, but can only offer prayers that God holds you all in His grace and provision through this shocking and painful time.

Christine, I am so terribly sorry for this unfathomable loss of Troy. You are loved and supported by so many who will do anything we can to be here for you, Carter, and Grace now and in the years ahead. One of my favorite memories of Troy was that he taught my family how to eat a cupcake the "right" way by tearing off the top and making a sandwich at one of Vivaan's birthday parties. What a tremendous person who will be greatly missed. You are in my prayers and I am sending love and virtual hugs to you, Brooke

Troy and I were best friends in middle school when his family was stationed at Ft Sam Houston, TX. He and I initially bonded over our love of cars and Car&Driver magazine, and our friendship took off from there. Troy was a GREAT friend - he was selfless, loyal, and always stuck up for his friends. I have many stories and great memories from the time we spent together, and although we lost touch many years ago I will always consider him one of my closest friends. He will be missed dearly. My deepest condolences to the Hamlin family.

I am heart broken for all his family. Troy was my technical rep while I was working for Stonhard. He absolutely was one of the finest in the industry. We could always count on him jumping in to give a hand. The world is definitely a lesser place with out him. But heaven is celebrating. We will continue to pray for his family.

I was not aware of Troy’s passing. I worked with Troy at Stonhard. I had lost his phone number in transition of a new phone and was thinking of him and wanted to give him a call. I came across his obituary searching the web for his phone number. During my time at Stonhard I got to train with and get to know Troy quite well. He was always so helpful and so positive. He sure was a lot of fun too. To say I was heartbroken when I saw he had passed was an understatement. He is now in a better place. God rest his soul and God bless his family.
