Oct 03, 1936---Nov 11, 2020

Jacquolyn (Jackie) Holden Ivey, 84, of Lenexa, Kansas went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 11, 2020. Her death resulted from a hemorrhagic stroke.

Jackie was born in Magnolia, Arkansas, October 3, 1936 to C.R. and Katherine Holden. Soon after her birth, her family moved to North Carolina. She graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1954. Throughout her adulthood, she worked in a variety of administrative positions in both the healthcare and insurance fields. Jackie had not had the opportunity to complete her degree in her younger years and went back to college at the age of 52. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1992. Jackie spent many of her years in Concord, North Carolina but ultimately moved to Kansas City to be near her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. Once in the Midwest, she rarely met someone that didn’t ask her about her lovely Southern accent.

Jackie served her church in many capacities and enjoyed attending Sunday school, various Bible studies and Discipleship groups. She played the piano for the choir, served funeral dinners and provided administrative help as a volunteer in the church office. Jackie was a devout Christian and her love for the Lord was evident to all who met her. She frequently started her day by saying, “This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it”.

Jackie enjoyed drinking sweet tea, collecting sassy sunglasses, petting her cat and going to the Cracker Barrel. What she loved most of all was spending time with her girls, Dione and Carson.

Jackie is survived by her daughter, Dione Ivey Miller (Scott) of Lenexa, KS, one granddaughter, Carson Miller of Lenexa, KS, brother Mike Holden of Cartersville, GA, sister Linda Eller of Jasper, GA and multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse at the following link: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/memorial-page/jackie-h-ivey-lenexa-ks/

Oh my, so very sorry for your loss (and ours too). Your Mother sat at the same table at Westchester as my Mother. When we would be there visiting at meal time we enjoyed many chats. She was so funny and interesting and we have a son in NC so that was a great topic of conversation. Before the pandemic we would share tomatoes from our garden with her. She said they were not the same without Duke’s Mayonnaise, so we gave her some of that too. She was so kind to my Mom who has dementia, even when she had heard the same stories again and again. May she rest sweetly in peace in the Lord’s arms.

So sorry to hear of Jackie’s passing. I know you all will miss her very much, but knowing she is home now with the Lord always gives us a little comfort. We will be praying that God eases your pain over the coming days.
