Jan 13, 1947---Jan 30, 2021

Patricia Sharon Perkins (DePont), age 74, of Olathe, KS passed peacefully on January 30.
She was born on January 13th, 1947 to Frank and Martha DePont in Overland Park, KS.
She excelled in her schoolwork and graduated from Ruskin High School in 1965. She started her career at the Gas Company downtown where she met the love of her life, Jim Perkins.  On October 25th, 1969 they married at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and built a family and life together that included two daughters in Mission, KS.
Patricia stayed home to raise her children for many years, but did eventually make her way back to the workplace, in part to provide her children with a Catholic education.   After working at Waterone for over 20 years, she enjoyed an early retirement in 2005.
Family and religion were both very important to her.  She found a peace, guidance, love and security in her Catholic faith.  She was proud of her faith and family.  After retirement she again used her time to serve her family.  She assisted in caring for her aging parents, helping to care for her grandchildren and also enjoyed the new found freedom to relax and vacation a little.
She was caring, forgiving and determined.  Her pure determination and grit helped her be a tremendous fighter throughout her long battle with cancer and the many challenges that came her way throughout life.  She found joy in the simple things in life, reading a good book, cooking a new recipe, enjoying a walk outdoors or spending quality time with her grandchildren.
She will always be remembered for her love for her family and her beautiful Christmas gatherings.  She learned from her mother the importance of gathering together to celebrate the holidays and continued the tradition for many years.  She was also the family historian and loved to share stories from the past. She will be greatly missed and will always be deeply loved!
She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer (Jeff), Julie (Jeff) and her four granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Paige, Kendall and Khloe.  Her 3 sisters and many nieces and nephews also survive her. She is preceded in death by  her husband, Jim and parents Frank and Martha DePont. Flowers are welcome and other contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.americancancersociety.org
Funeral Services will be private.

Jennifer & Julie - your mom was such a special person. I have worked in the Parish Office at Nativity for 23 years and that's where I met your mom. She generously volunteered in the parish office whenever we needed someone to fill in on the front desk. She had such a sweet personality and was always delightful to have a conversation with. She spoke highly of the two of you and her grand kids, of course. She never complained and always had a good attitude even when things were tough for her. I was able to visit with her at Benson House once before Covid struck. Her warm smile and her kind spirit will never be forgotten. My prayers for both of you. Take comfort in knowing that your parents are once again together and basking in their eternal reward.

I have fond memories of Patty especially when we were younger back in the 1960s. My sister Colette would visit and play with Carol, my sister Celeste would visit with Barbara and Beverly and it seemed as if my brother Nick and I would end up talking to Patty about her experiences at Ruskin High School, looking at her yearbook, and playing with her new typewriter. It was something to have a typewriter back then. I was fortunate enough to speak with Patty on the phone several times last fall when she was in assisted living. I could tell her voice was weaker but she was still the same sweet and friendly Patty I remember while growing up. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her.

I want to also add that I thought her funeral service was very touching. I also enjoyed watching her tribute video and the phases of Patty's life as a girl, a young woman, a married woman with children, and then grandchildren. I know you Jennifer and Julie will miss her very much. God love you and may Jesus strengthen you both in your time of sorrow.

I knew your mother for 18 years at WaterOne. She was what I always thought "a lady" in all circumstances. Doing her job was not easy; everything had to be confidential, had to very careful to not say anything; but Pat's smile was ever present no matter what was going on at work. You would never know what was going on in her personal life as she always had that beautiful smile that set off her flawless skin. I am so sorry for your loss. I always say that God picks the most perfect roses for his garden and she did not disappoint, for she was beautiful inside and out. My deepest sympathies. Donna Nealey
