Dec 07, 1946---Jun 27, 2021

Janet Kay (Mischnick) Kehlbeck, 74, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at her home in Lenexa, KS.  Visitation will be at 10:00 am with a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 3 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar Avenue, Overland Park, KS.  A private family graveside will be held at a later date in Syracuse, NE.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Bethany Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice.

Jan was born on December 7, 1946 to Arthur and Dorothy (Bock) Mischnick in Nebraska City, NE.  She moved to Alliance, NE after kindergarten, where she grew up and attended school.  After high school, Jan moved to Lincoln, NE to attend Lincoln Business School.  She met Dalton R. Kehlbeck in Lincoln and they were married on June 7, 1969.  Dalton and Jan lived in Eagle, NE, Columbus, NE, Burnsville, MN, and Fargo, ND before moving to the Kansas City area in 1995.  Most of Jan’s working career, she was an administrative assistant with her last 12 years as a para-professional at Brookridge Elementary, retiring in 2010.  Jan was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.  She was a caring friend to many in her church, neighborhood, and work communities.  Jan was a faithful member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where she was actively involved in Lydia Circle, Stephen’s Ministry, Outreach Board, and choir to name a few.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard Mischnick, and sister-in-law Ima Jean Mischnick.  Jan is survived by her husband of 52 years, daughter Kelly (Kehlbeck) and Bill Cox and granddaughter Catelyn of College Station, TX and daughter Teresa (Kehlbeck) and Todd Dahlke and grandchildren Matthew, Meghan, Andrew, Sarah, and Ryan of Kearney, NE.  Jan is also survived by three siblings, sister Ruth Mischnick of Shawnee Mission, KS, brother Robert (Bob) Mischnick of Alliance, NE, and brother James (Jim) and Kathy Mischnick of Eagan, MN.
