A friend once told me, "If I were going to own a golf course, the first person I'd hired would be Chuck." I think that speaks volumes of all that knew him, I think he was a friend to every golfer who played regularly at Sunflower Hills, especially us old geezers in the Senior Leagues. When a photo was taken to give to Chuck, more than 100 golfers were there. To say he's been missed the last couple of years is a huge understatement.

Every time I came in the clubhouse Chuck had a story he would want me to relay to Frank Rounds of course by the time I saw Frank I would forget the riddle...Frank said that's ok but tell Chuck this... but by the time I saw him I would forget that riddle and on and on it went. I don't remember any of those riddles but I do remember Chuck!!! I am so sorry for his passing

Chuck and I worked together at Sunflower Hills when it opened back in the 70’s. I loved his soft spoken ways and his little laugh:) There isn’t a finer gentleman and friend than Chuck. Sunflower Hills will never be the same without him. God Bless Chuck and may he Rest In Peace🙏

Never in all my years of playing Sunflower did I ever walk in pro shop, see Chuck and him never ever not have smile on his face or kind words. I think Sunflower will have big hole to fill. Not sure God didn’t hit a shank on this one. Best to family, I’m quite sure Chuck is in good hands.

I worked with Chuckie for several years and have many great memories, from our bad weekly golf matches with Little Man and TJ, our ping pong battles in the winter and who could give each other the most trouble. It has not been the same walking in the doors and seeing his face and hearing his laugh. RIP my friend. .

Blessings to the Family One day I asked Chuck which golf balls to buy? He said Dennis it is not so much about the arrow but more about the Indian. Thanks Chuck I get it. Love from a high handicap player named Dennis

Chuck was a great friend and my first supervisor working at Sunflower in the 80s and 90s. We watched many KU basketball and Chiefs football games together. One of the best memories of Chuck was playing with him in the Oldsmobile Scramble and making it to Disney World for the finals…what a trip and great times. Chuck will be missed!

Chuck was a friend, golfing partner, coworker, mentor and a pillar at Sunflower over the years! We worked together for nearly a decade and I will cherish the memories! The golf matches on his day off with Tim Nick and Jeff Sedorcek, the Phoenix golf trips with the Poindexter’s, the early mornings pulling up golf carts, the bets on Louie showing up, the hot summers grilling hamburgers on the patio for a tournament and the countless “boring” days working a shift together! I moved away several decades ago but I always enjoyed coming back to catch up with Chuck! You will be missed my friend!
