Aug 09, 1961---Oct 18, 2021

Cheryl Ann Allinder, 60, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, October 25 at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. The Memorial Mass will be on Tuesday, October 26,  at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 W. 92nd St., Lenexa, KS. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Cheryl (Maier) Allinder was born in Leavenworth, KS on August 9, 1961.  She graduated from Immaculata High School in Leavenworth, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS in 1983.  Cheryl worked for Honeywell for 34 years, most recently as an ISC Project Manager.  She retired in the spring of 2021.

She grew up in Leavenworth, KS, the youngest of three siblings which included a brother and sister.  Cheryl was gregarious from an early age, a quality which brought many precious friends into her life through the years.  She was genuinely interested in people and quick to make each person feel welcome and appreciated.  Cheryl's quick connections to people on a personal level earned her the nickname “Ch-oprah”.

Among Cheryl’s interests were shopping, interior design, and gardening, and her home reflected these beautifully.  She enriched her world through an avid interest in animals and documentaries.  Perhaps most prominent was her natural curiosity about and genuine interest in people from all walks of life.  Cheryl’s laugh was infectious, and made every room brighter because she was in it.

By far her greatest joy was her family: husband Tom and sons Matthew and Zachary.  Her thankful heart showed in her deep love of spending time with them.

She is also survived by her parents Joseph and Mary Maier of Leavenworth ,KS, her brother Tom (Sue) Maier of Fayetteville, NC, and her sister Joan (Al) Lall of St. Charles, MO.  Also surviving her are many loving nieces and nephews.  “Cherry pie for everyone!"

We used to live around the corner from Cheryl in Stoneridge Manor. We have been going to a Christmas cookie exchange together for the past 20 or so years. I’m so sad to learn of Cheryl’s passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She was such a beam of sunlight!

I first met Cheryl when she started working for the Federal government as an auditor for the Department of Transportation, and from the very beginning she was a valued coworker and team player. Her friendliness, her easy laughter, and quick wit were always on display. It is with much sadness that I offer my sympathy to all of Cheryl's family.

When I was little, I could never tell the difference between my Mom and Aunt Cheryls’ voices when they called our (very outdated, non caller ID) home phone. When I got older, I could only start to tell the difference between the two voices because my mom would use a more disciplinary tone with me. But it was at that same that I started to notice the infectious joy in Aunt Cheryl’s voice. As I got older, I realized that this is the way Aunt Cheryl lived her life. She brought joy to anyone and everyone in her life and has had a lasting impact on my life. I’ll think of you everyday, Aunt Cheryl, and will do my best to continue spreading your joy. Love to Uncle Tom, Matt, Zach, my parents, and my grandparents.

I am deeply saddened by this news. Cheryl was one of the first people to believe in my abilities and reward me for them the first year in my career. She saw me when I thought no one else did. She made me feel valued. She was a pleasure to work with and a pleasure to know. She lifted the spirits of everyone she was around. She was always moving so I called her a busy bee from how light and swift she moved. She will be missed.

So friendly to all of us at WW. we only spent a few minutes with her at the scale be she was a friend to us all. May her memory be for a blessing. Know she touched so many of us in little ways, but it meant the world to see her smiling face as we came through the door.

I am at a loss for words, Cheryl was never anything but a sweet girl, always smiling and laughing, and was incredibly smart, and always loving. My Aunt Mary and Uncle Joe should hold their heads high in who they brought Cheryl up to be, and I feel the same way about her two siblings, Joanie, and Tommy Lee, that I love with all my heart. It is unfathomable to me that my Mom, and Aunt Mary, who are twins, both will end up burying a beloved child. Never once did I hear Cheryl complain, never once did I see her act bad. NEVER. She lived a very moral life, she and Tom raised two of the most well-behaved and smart young men that I know. They are, as their Mother was, nothing but a joy to be around and I know for a fact that Cheryl and Tom are both so proud of them. I love Zachary and Matthew very much, and my heart aches for them, and Cheryl's wonderful Husband, Tom. He was nothing but devoted to Cheryl and their two boys. WE LOVE YOU CHERYL UNTIL WE ARE REUNITED WITH YOU, ONE BY ONE. Rest in peace, sweet cousin.

Cheryl was such a wonderful part of our finance family at Honeywell, she lead our team through many turbulent times with her calm smile.. and positive attitude, we would catch up every few months and spend far to much time chatting and not working..she was just that person that made your day better.. I know how very much she loved her family and I also know how strong her faith was..I have no doubt she is at peace and watching over us all with our friend Laura
