John Mark Woheltz, 62, Basehor, KS, died Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Providence Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with Funeral Services following at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave. Kansas City, KS.
Mark was born Febraury 5, 1959 in Kansas City, KS to Paul and Alta (Winterscheidt) Wohletz. He graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1977. On April 21st, 1979, He married Nancy Mulvey and had two daughters, Shannon and Ryan. In 1984, Mark began his thirty-year career, working as a Millwright for the Millwright’s Union Local 1529 until he retired in 2014. On February 14, 2003, Mark married Diana Christine Merriott. In this union, Mark gained three sons, Chris, Cody, and Calen whom he loved dearly. There was nothing more important than family to Mark. He also loved designing, creating, and building wood projects. His spare time was spent with his family or in the garage working on his next project. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan. He was a lot of things but being a Grandpa was his favorite. He would often be seen sitting in the stands cheering on his grandkids in whatever sport or activity they were involved in. Mark was always there for those around him and made sure everyone felt welcomed and included.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alta Wohletz, brothers Robert, Gerald, Bernard, and Larry. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Diana, daughter Shannon Nemec (Brandon), daughter Ryan Hall (J.R.), son Chris Beemer (Jordan), son Calen Hoffman (Katie), son Cody Hoffman (Heather), and grandchildren Saharah, Carter, Tristian, Brynn, Kinsey, Ezra, Zoey, Vera, Henley, Nelle, and another due in July of this year.
