Martha Fredericks Harbour, 89 of Lenexa, Kansas passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Westchester Village. Her 3 children, Bob Jr. Terri and Kim at her side. Martha was born in Kansas City, Kansas on September 8th, 1932 and lived her early years in the Argentine area of Wyandotte County. Martha was proceeded in death by parents Velma and Clifford Fredericks, brothers Stacy and Clifford Jr and sisters Dorothy Hickey, Phyllis Lawson and Virginia Barnes and most recently by husband Bob in October, 2021.
Martha was proud of her Wyandotte County heritage and was active in organizations promoting the area. Martha worked for many years with any activity involving friends of The Grinter House. Martha devoted much time and energy serving a term as President of their board.
In 1951 Martha married Bob Harbour. Bob and Martha wasted no time in starting their family producing 3 children in 6 years. Their lives revolved around the activities of their active family. Martha worked alongside her husband for many years growing their Harbour Brothers Asphalt company into what would become Harbour Construction.
In 1978 Martha and Bob moved to Lake Quivira where they built or remodeled 4 different homes. Martha was a member of the Ladies Garden Club and the Ladies 9 holers golf group. Entertaining friends and family, along with decorating these homes were the source of much of her pleasure. In 2006 Martha and Bob re-located to Avon Park Florida as residents of the retirement community Highland Ridge. They would make many friends that they missed terribly when health issues forced them to return home to Kansas City in 2017.
Martha regularly attended St.Pauls Methodist Church in Lenexa and when covid limited her attendance she would enjoy the live streaming made available. She found much comfort and joy in her daily reading of her well used family bible.
Martha is survived by son Bob and wife Patty of Lake Quivira, KS, daughter Terri Izard and husband Bob of Mission, KS and daughter Kim Oswald and husband Mark of Sunrise Beach, MO, 6 grandsons and 4 young great grandsons. Casey Harbour (Sarah),Kyle Izard, Kevin Izard (Andrea), Kollin Izard (Mychal), Connor Oswald and Chase Oswald. Great grandsons include Benjamin, Lou and Beau Izard along with Dayton Harbour. Prior to their move to Florida you would find them at virtually all of their grandsons sporting events, always eager to see a golf tournament, baseball, basketball or soccer game. Martha will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends in Kansas City and Florida.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 Wednesday June 1, at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS with the memorial service to follow. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Crosslines Community Outreach, 736 Shawnee, Ave Kansas City Kansas 66105.
