Following a lengthy illness, R. Michael Harding, 77, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Graveside Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, July 14, at Resurrection Cemetery (Prince of Peace Chapel), 83rd and Quivira, Lenexa, KS. Celebration of Life and reception will follow immediately after the graveside service at Falcon Ridge Resident Clubhouse, 20140 Prairie Star Parkway, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Fisher House Foundation, 12300 Twinbrook Parkway, Suite 410, Rockville, MD 20852; Veterans Community Project, 8900 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64131 or a charity of your choice.
Mike was born July 4, 1945, in Kansas City, MO. He grew up in Lawrence, KS and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. Mike attended the University of Kansas before entering the United States Marine Corps. Mike was a Veteran of the Vietnam War from 1967-1968, serving as a helicopter gunner. His career in the real estate industry allowed Mike to travel all around the country. This included a six year relocation with his family to Batavia, IL. He was a member of the Marine Corps Association and Foundation, American Legion Post #58, Mill Creek Shooting Club, and he enjoyed sporting clays at Powder Creek and Cedar Hill Shooting Clubs, golf, and was an avid Jayhawk fan. He loved supporting organizations and programs that assisted Veterans in need. He was happiest spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends, especially attending their sporting events, dance recitals and other activities. He was an Irishman at heart and enjoyed laughing and sharing stories with his loved ones. Mike is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda L. Harding, two children Brett Harding, Little Rock, AR, Megan Harding, Lenexa, KS, two granddaughters Mackenzie Lock, Bryn Harding, siblings Robert Fox, Mary Fox Knight, Bridget McCloud, cousins Irene Haugen, Michelle Milan, Laura Schnell, sister in law Vickie Randel, niece Emily Randel, and extended family and friends.
