Gerald (Jerry) Boyer, lifetime Kansas City area resident, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the age of 89.
Jerry was born to Albert and Margaret (Conus) Boyer on October 31, 1933. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, attended Wyandotte High School and married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Petsch, on June 6, 1953. Both he and Bonnie maintained lifelong friendships with many fellow Wyandotte graduates.
Shortly after marrying, Jerry joined his father and older brother Kenny to work in the family business known then as the Process Solvent Company. There he helped transform the business from a regional producer of specialty automotive chemicals into an industry-leading producer of specialty construction chemicals sold throughout the US, Canada and abroad.
During his time as president of ProSoCo, Jerrypioneered new methods to clean new masonry construction, remove difficult staining, protect porous masonry and restore the appearance and weather resistance of decaying stonework. He considered his personal involvement in restoration of United States Capitol Building, numerous state capitols, The Smithsonian Institution, Woolworth Building, and Grand Central Station among his proudest professional achievements.
Jerry and Bonnie Boyer were married for 62years until Bonnie’s death in 2015. Jerry is survived by his daughter Denise Boyer Curtis, and his 3 sons: Michael and wife Peggy; David and wife Anita; Bruce and wife Debbie.
In addition to his children, Jerry was a generous supporter of his 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends.
