Joanne M. Leive, 88, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023.  Visitation will be 9-10:00 AM followed by a Memorial Services at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 8, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave. Kansas City, KS.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

Joanne was born April 13, 1934, in Kansas City, KS to Karl and Catherine (Stumpf) Henckel.  She was employed at Yellow Freight for 42 years retiring in 1995.  She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and a member of the church's choir.  Joanne was an avid Royals fan, loved the Hallmark Channel and working on her jigsaw puzzles.  She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Leive, daughter Marsha Sanders, sister Phyllis Lammert, brothers George Henckel and Robert Henckel.  Joanne is survived by two children Roxanne (Todd) Deines, Lenexa, KS, Brett (Lesley) Leive, Basehor, KS, son-in-law Lloyd Sanders, Mission, KS, nine grandchildren:  Rochelle, Riane, Rosalie, Robert, Amanda, Vanessa, Courtney, Payton, Makayla, fifteen great grandchildren; Skylar, Taylor, Carter, Cash, Arlington, Charli, Donovan, Bennett, Isadora, Presley, Lewis, Brinley, Mason, Cora, Finnley and extended family and friends.

To the generations of descendants of my Aunt Joanne: My heart goes out to you. Joanne was, hands down, my favorite aunt. I have fond, albeit rather vague, memories of visits to Aunt Joanne and Uncle Bob's house in KC and at the lake. It's been a long time since I saw Aunt Joanne. But she continued to send me Christmas letters to keep me up to date. (honestly, though, I can't keep the grandchildren straight, much less the great grandchildren!)

I have done Joanne's hair for the last year and I couldn't believe it when I saw this. I am so sorry. She was a very sweet lady.
