Timothy Joe Knipp, a man of unwavering loyalty, kindness, and selflessness, passed away March 12th surrounded by the love of his family. Tim, son of Ivan and Beverly (Bonk) Knipp, was born on May 17th, 1957 in Waterloo, IA. As one of eight children, Tim graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in 1975.
At an early age, Tim married Brigid (Lichty) on May 14, 1976. Their love story was one of devotion, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they built a life filled with fierce love and unwavering support.
Tim’s greatest joy came from being a father and grandfather. He and Brigid had four children and six grandchildren who were the center of their universe: Mollie (Kevin) Day, Timmy Knipp (deceased, 2005), Joe Knipp, and McKenzie (Joel) Dearborn. Laughter echoed through the Knipp house, and their accomplishments were his proudest moments. Tim’s legacy lives on in the hearts of these individuals.
A true sports enthusiast, Tim cheered passionately for the Hawkeyes, he shared countless game days with family and friends. Whether it was a big game or watching his grandkids excel, Tim found equal joy. As Papa, he was the biggest and most supportive fan to Abbie & Isabel Day, Nyla & Raina Knipp, and Emma & Harrison Dearborn.
Tim’s bond with his brothers and sister was unbreakable. Whether reminiscing about childhood adventures or sharing stories of their own families, these connections were a source of strength and comfort. Tim’s loyalty extended beyond blood; he considered his friends as family, too.
Tim Knipp’s legacy is etched in the memories of those who knew him. His kindness, love, and zest for life will continue to inspire generations. As we say goodbye, let us celebrate the man who touched our lives and made the world a better place.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be sent to the Sailor Youth Sports programs or the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in Tim’s honor.
Rest in peace, Tim. Your spirit lives on in the cheers at the football games, laughter of your grandchildren, the impact of your children, and the love of your life, Brigid.
