Andrew Patrick Thomas, 48 years old, passed away on March 27, 2024. He was born August 15, 1975, in Kansas City, Kansas to Mary Joyce (Herring) Thomas and William L. Thomas, Sr. Andy lived in Kansas City, Kansas all of his life. Andy graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1993 where he played football, basketball and track.
Andy’s greatest legacy are his two children, whom he shares with Kassy Herron. His daughter Kate Thomas and son Nicolas Thomas were the greatest source of pride and happiness in his life. When it comes to his jobs, Andy wore many different hats, but primarily he was a landscaper and enjoyed landscape design. Andy loved dogs, especially Blue Healers. Later in life he fell in love with golf, especially hunting for lost golf balls. He was an avid fisherman and according to him, he caught many record bass. He was an avid fan of KU basketball and football. Most of all, Andy was a people person. Andy was outgoing, a good storyteller, and never met a stranger. Andy had a quick wit and made people laugh with his one-liners. He was the kind of person who had a lot friends, but most of all Andy was a family person. In addition to his children, he loved his nieces and was involved in their lives. He was the one that lit up family dinners and holiday celebrations.
Andy is preceded in death by his grandmother Mary Herring, grandfather Ray Herring, and his grandmother Ethel Patterson. He is survived by his two children, Kate Thomas of Kansas City, Kansas and Nicolas Thomas of Kansas City, KS. He also leaves his parents, Mary Joyce Thomas and Bill Thomas of Kansas City, KS., his brothers Bill Thomas Jr. of Moberly, Missouri and Robert Thomas and his wife Ann of Kansas City, Missouri. He leaves nieces Ashton Thomas, Liz Thomas, and NeeNee Hill. He is also survived by his dogs, Bandit and Archie.
Services will be held at the Stony Point Christian Church in Kansas City, KS on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Visitation will be at 9:30 until 11:00 and a celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m. Memorial gifts may be donated to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City at www.hsgkc.org.
