Feb 20, 1939---May 25, 2025

Virginia Louise Transue (nee Gillett) passed peacefully on May 25th, 2025 after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Webb Oberheide; her parents, Ira and Atha Gillett; and two brothers, James Gillett and George William Gillett. She is survived by her sister, Anita Tindall; her children Elizabeth House (James), Dr. Vicki Knight (Ursula), Kevin Knight (Gina), and Kristi Orte ( Tom). She was grandmother to seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Virginia was born on February 20th, 1939 in Kansas City, KS. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1957. She married Darrell Knight in 1957 and they divorced in 1971 after having 4 children. In 1976, she married Charles Transue  and they were divorced in 1978. She married Webb Oberheide in 1986.

Virginia retired from Uniformed Services Benefits Association in 2000, after 28 years, having worked her way through the ranks from secretary to VP of Information Systems. She received her BS in Human Resources Management from Friends University in 1991, no small feat for a single mother.

Virginia and her husband, Webb, loved to travel and took multiple trips to Europe, and one to the Holy Land, as well as many trips domestically. She loved to laugh and play games like Yahtzee and dominoes. She mostly loved her family and made huge sacrifices so her children and grandchildren never wanted for anything. She loved volunteering in her community, but her family was always first and foremost. She made it a point to attend all her childrens’ school events, and didn’t hesitate to travel to weddings and graduations while she was still able to travel.

Virginia is a perfect example of a life well-lived. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
