Rosalinda Vivian (Palmerin) Ruiz, age 76, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Rosalinda, known as Rosie to all who loved her, was born on April 10, 1949, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Pascual and Josephine (Briseño) Palmerin. She graduated from Redemptorist High School in Kansas City, Missouri, and later attended Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kansas.
Rosie married her devoted husband, Richard Ruiz, Sr., on February 8, 1969 in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with three children and fifty-six years of marriage. She is survived by Richard and their children Bridget Cherie Ruiz, Richard Ruiz, Jr. (Kelly), and Gina Ruiz. Rosie was the proud grandmother of Christine Salazar (Jesse), Jeffery McKinzy, Zaria McKinzy, Angelina Capelo, Gabriela Ruiz, and CJ Weston.
Rosie is also survived by her siblings: Patsy Trujillo, Vicki Allen (Ron), Esther Garcia (Felipe), Pascual Palmerin, Paul Palmerin (Phyllis), Richard Palmerin (MaryLou), Michael Palmerin (JD), and Mark Palmerin (Tina), along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Rosemary Rodriguez.
Rosie had many passions, but her greatest joys came from her family and her art. A talented artist, she often took classes with her sister Rosemary at Johnson County Community College. She was generous, funny, and full of life. Rosie loved to host gatherings filled with food (her fried tacos were a frequent request), laughter, dancing—especially the cumbia—and the warmth of family and friends. She will be remembered for her open heart, her creativity, and her ability to bring people together.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Good Shepherd Hospice and The Heritage of Overland Park for the compassionate care and support they provided during Rosie’s journey with Alzheimer’s. They are also deeply grateful to her many siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends whose frequent visits and loving care brought her comfort and joy.
Rosalinda’s light will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation in the memory of Rosalinda Ruiz to the Good Shepherd Hospice Foundation online at www.goodshepherdhospice.com.
