Nov 02, 1954---Oct 04, 2025

Martha Lynn (Thompson) Mullins, born on November 2, 1954, went to be with Jesus on October 4, 2025. In her final days, she was surrounded by family and friends and passed away peacefully at NorthCare Hospice House.

Martha graduated in 1972 from Washington High School in Kansas City, Kansas. She worked for Tennant/Arrow Electronics for over 20 years and, after retirement, spent several years caring for her grandchildren. She later served as a special needs bus aide for Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools and went on to work for Catholic Charities as a foster grandparent in a kindergarten class at Hazel Grove Elementary School. She once told her daughter that after working in the school, she wished she had become an elementary school teacher.

Martha is survived by her husband, James; daughter Christi Brown and her children Rylie and Reid; son Christopher and his daughter Lylah; and son Donald Wards, Jr. and his children Rylan, Allie, and Lylian. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Jamie Mullins, partner Derek, and children Ashleigh, Paige, and Quinton.

Martha is also survived by two loving siblings, Penny Thompson and James Thompson and his wife Kathy, as well as an abundance of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who dearly loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Thompson and Marjorie (Shore) Thompson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at Wyandotte County Lake, 83rd Street Shelter House, near her favorite place to fish. Friends and family are welcome to attend. Martha wanted this to be a comfortable and casual gathering, so please dress accordingly. Blue was her favorite color for those who wish to honor her in that way.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to HopeKidsKC, an organization that supports families with children who are battling illness—a cause close to Martha’s heart and one she regularly attended with her granddaughter. Please click here to donate. https://hopekids.org/donate/
