Robert James Marr, age 98, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at his home in Overland Park, KS. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Lenexa, KS.

Robert was born April 9, 1927, in Chicago, IL, the youngest of four children of the late Stanley L. and Theresa E. Marr. After graduating from Pullman Tech in 1945, Robert graduated in industrial electronics and television design at De Forest Training.  In 1945, he joined the U.S. Navy and served two years aboard the J. Franklin Bell and USS Pickaway.  He was recalled in 1951 to serve two years in the Korean War aboard the USS Everglades.

On February 7, 1953, he was united in marriage to Margaret Mary (Graham).  They enjoyed 59 years together, raising four children.  He had many hobbies and loved a good challenge to design, build, fix or improve upon just about anything.

During his working career, Robert worked for AT&T in Chicago. He was promoted to an Engineering Associate and was transferred to Kansas City, MO in 1962 and lived in Overland Park, KS ever since.  He retired in 1988 after 35 years of service with AT&T.

When Robert was 55 years old, he and his wife took up snow skiing and joined the Kansas City Ski Club, both winning many medals and trophies in club racing. He enjoyed woodworking all his life.  He joined the Trail Blazers in 1987 and served on the recreation committee.  He also enjoyed traveling both in the states and abroad. 

Robert is survived by his beloved children, James Marr (Peggy), Patricia Glauser (JP), Linda Marr, and Susan Merriman (Patrick); seven grandchildren, Kelsy Burton (Dustin), Kyle Marr (Alicia), Kendra Marr, Korbin Marr, Curtis Glauser (Cody), Travis Glauser (Victoria), Abby Glauser (Taylor);eight great- grandchildren, Aidy, Preston, Sloan, Rylee, Ashlie, Charlotte, Penelope and Toby.

I am so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace, Uncle Bob you will be missed. I have a lot of fond memories of visits to Kansas and his visits to Illinois. Some of my favorite memories are when everyone visited at Paw Paw Lake with grandma Marr. My thoughts and prayers are with your family Love Cheryl and Brian
