Jul 03, 1943---May 10, 2026

Donald L. Sweat, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and love. A man known for his toughness, strength, and unwavering spirit, he lived life on his own terms and left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

He was happiest around horses, especially race horses, admiring their strength, speed, and spirit. Dogs were never far from his side, and they seemed to understand the loyal heart behind his rough exterior. He also loved the game of golf, enjoying the time spent on the course and the friendships made along the way.

Though he could be tough as nails, those closest to him knew the truth: beneath that rugged shell was a heart of gold. He loved fiercely, protected his family proudly, and especially treasured time spent with his five grandsons, who brought him immense pride, joy, and plenty of stories to tell.

He shared more than 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Linda, building a life centered on love, memories and family.

Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda.  He is survived by two daughters, Ashley Kuecker, Courtney Bell and his five grandsons, Keegan Kuecker, Kyler Kuecker, Kole Kuecker, Brayden Bell and Brennan Bell.

He leaves behind family and friends who will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.

Visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Porter Funeral Home, Lenexa, Kansas with services following at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.

Donald's family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer's Association or American Diabetes Association.

Don was a great person & fun gentleman! We were classmates at Derby High School and had some fun times when he & his beloved wife, from Anthony; Ks were furst dating. Recall his humorous conversation as we drove home one evening after having enjoyed an evening on double date. Although we later lost regular contact due to careers, I visited Ron his twin brother Ron who owned doughnut shop in Derby, who passed in prior years Always thought of Don and tried to contact him in later years, but was told by mutual friend Larry Womack that he was interned to assisted living. THUS, CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY! Sorry for your loss, HE WAS a GREAT MAN! Larry Ricjard
