Ruth was born September 28, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to Elizabeth and Clement J. Meyers.  Ruth began her Catholic school education at Our Lady of Good Counsel grade school and attended Holy Name High School. In 1957, she graduated from Good Samaritan School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse practicing surgical nursing and later psychiatric nursing.

In 1958, Ruth married John H. Kelly in Cleveland, Ohio and they were married for 51 years.  Together they moved eight times and raised five children.  Ruth was a strong Catholic woman with a special devotion to Our Lady and the Holy Rosary.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, traveling stateside and abroad, relaxing at the lake, and her Red Hatter and church groups.  Ruth was blessed with the gift of sewing, as was evident by her many clothes and beautiful quilts she created.  She enjoyed many other hobbies including reading, crocheting and needlework.  She will be remembered for her contagious laugh and independent spirit.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, John and survived by her five children:  Helen (Dan) Biller of Olathe, KS; Kathleen (Ed) Wells of Highland Village, TX; John (Deborah) Kelly of Ooltewah, TN; Sean (Ginger) Kelly of Tulsa, OK and Colleen (Brian) Terry of Plano, TX.  Ruth is also survived by her grandchildren: Laura Biller, Kimberly (Luke) Demko, Eileen (Keegan) Brewer, Caitlin (Chad) Washington, John, Emilia and Alan Kelly, Rachel and Jenna Terry and her great grandchildren: Riley Kerby, Coralen and Easton Demko, Baylin and Britton Brewer.

Friend ,Overland Park ,Kansas

My sympathies to your family on your loss. I met Ruth a couple of years ago--she was my mom's neighbor and dear friend at Sunrise of Overland Park. My mom, Marcia, loved Ruth and they enjoyed meals and conversations during their time together at Sunrise. Though their time together was short, they became close friends. Ruth was a joy to know--she was very kind and had a lovely outlook on life. Blessings to all of you.
