Susan Kay Gampper, 83 years young of Lenexa, KS, passed on May 12, 2026

Susan was born in Topeka, KS on March 5, 1943, to Leo and Erna Reicherter.  Susan was a graduate of Topeka High School, Washburn University with a bachelor’s in education, a Master from Webster University and her ESOL Endorsement from Kansas University.  Susan’s passion for education led to over 60 years of teaching.  Her family learned 20 years ago to stop asking her when she was going to retire.

Susan’s weekend plans revolved around Chiefs, K-State Games, and Mass.  She was known for her love of animals, personal style, generosity and pride in her family.

Susan is survived by her husband Chuck Gampper of 60 years, sister Marty Fletcher, (Rick Croucher), sisters-in-law, Margaret Gampper and Shirley Gampper and a group of nieces, nephews, who all were blessed by having time with Aunt Susan.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 W. 92nd St., Lenexa, KS on May 19, 2026.

To Susan's family, I had the honor of working with Susan for probably 4 to 5 years. She was all you said, passionate for education and kids. May God send you comfort in this time.

Chuck and family, I will forever be grateful for having the privilege to call Susan a dear friend. I was a para in Susan’s 2nd grade class and we hit it off instantly. We had so much fun creating for her class! Then we met up years later at my own kid’s school and she encouraged me to be her ESOL para. I admired and respected her in so many ways. She was kind, sincere, and so put together! Just a beautiful person. She will be missed.

Chester and I want to offer our heartfelt condolences to Charlie and the entire family. We met Susan, Chuck and several of the Gampper family years ago at Holy Trinity church years ago. We attended a faith group together and most recently a rosary group. We will miss all the moments spent after church discussing sports, fashion and just being friends. Love and Blessings to all! May the angels, and the company of heaven welcome and comfort Susan.

Dear Chuck and family. Susan was one of a kind. Surrogate grand parents to our children. Always happy, a kind soul. She will be missed dearly. So many good memories from our time as neighbors, or our trips together always full of laughter. Chuck we will be by your side as you navigate without your copilot. We love you.

Mrs. Gampper was our daughter’s favorite teacher! Jill loved learning about the animals on different continents and creating beautiful pieces of art to showcase her understanding of the content. She also learned how to look beautiful and professional in the workplace. Thank you, Mrs. Gampper for being a loving teacher and showcasing your style to second grade learners! You made a lifetime difference for our student!
