Vince Knecht passed away on May 30, 2026, at his home in Overland Park with family. He had suffered from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis for the past two years.
Vince was born in Louisburg, KS to Teresa and Leo Knecht on June 29, 1939. The Knecht family lived on a farm just south of Louisburg. He grew up with a brother, Leonard and a sister, Alma. He was so proud of Leonard and Alma, and grateful for having them in his life. He attended elementary school through high school in Louisburg, then to Kansas City Business College, graduating in 1960 with an Associate of Science degree in accounting. After graduation, he was married on July 2,1960 to Mary Sue Isenhower, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Louisburg by Father Phelan. Vince and Sue lived near the plaza where Sue worked at Skelly Oil. Vince and Sue had two children, Stephen (Roberta) and Lisa, living in Overland Park.
Vince worked at Masterson's Grocery Store in Louisburg during his high school years. After graduation from college, he worked for Conmaco, Inc. as Treasurer from 1959 to 1986, and then for Block and Company as Senior Vice President of Management Operations from 1987, retiring in 2016. He enjoyed accounting and property management, visiting with tenants and solving problems. Vince and Sue enjoyed family trips to Colorado each summer, Washington, DC and Disney in Florida. He made sure he attended every music concert, every athletic event and every graduation of his four grandchildren: April (Tyler), Joshua (Haley), Tony and Hunter.
We will miss his sense of humor and quiet way. He was always supportive to help in any way he could to help them achieve their goals. He put his family first and provided love and support to them. Every family member remembers a time when he would go out of his way to make them feel their goal was possible. As his health declined, those four grandchildren have helped him along the way, always attending Friday Night Family Dinner with Game Night, and giving him support and encouragement. Our love to you always, Vince, Grandpa and Great Grandpa to Eloise.
