Sep 05, 1959---Jun 10, 2026

Scott Carson passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born to Bob and Pat Carson on September 5, 1959, in Overland Park, KS, Scott grew up loving sports and proudly cheering for his home teams. A talented athlete with a fiercely competitive spirit, he received a basketball scholarship to William Jewell College, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a value system of teamwork, determination, and perseverance that remained evident throughout his life.

Early in his career at Enterprise Leasing, Scott met the love of his life, Vicki. What began as a workplace friendship grew into a remarkable partnership built on love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they shared nearly four decades of marriage and centered their life on family. Scott was a devoted husband and an extraordinary father to his daughters, Lindsay and Meredith. He was always present and engaged in their lives, whether coaching, cheering from the sidelines, offering guidance, or celebrating life’s milestones. He took immense pride in the women his daughters have become.

Scott built a successful career in the leasing industry spanning more than three decades. In addition to his leadership and professional accomplishments, he was a wonderful mentor, guiding and encouraging others toward high achievement. His enthusiasm for helping people succeed played an influential role in the Kansas City business community through his work with the Kauffman Foundation and Blue Ocean, where he supported and guided countless entrepreneurs and small businesses. Scott concluded his career with Sasser Inc, where he spent seven years, and often said it was the most enjoyable team he’s ever worked with. He valued the camaraderie, collaboration, and shared sense of purpose. His dedication to his work remained steadfast, and he continued working until his health no longer allowed him to do so.

After receiving the gift of life through a double lung transplant in 2022, Scott transformed gratitude into action. He became an active volunteer and advocate for Gift of Life, serving on the Board of Directors, chairing the Fundraising and PR Committee, and helping strengthen the relationships, visibility, and community support that sustains Gift of Life's mission. Scott also gave deeply of himself as a Life Savers volunteer, sharing his story with students to help them understand the lifesaving power of organ, eye, and tissue donation. Through Transplant Mentors, he walked alongside others waiting for a transplant, offering honesty, encouragement, and the steady reminder that became his personal motto: “Keep pushin’.” True to who he was, Scott saw this work as a way to honor his donor, his donor’s family, and the village of people who supported him throughout his journey.

Music was one of Scott’s greatest passions. Some of the Carson family’s most treasured memories were made at concerts, sharing favorite songs, and experiencing the joy that music brought into their lives. You always wanted Scott at your table for any music trivia. He was a walking jukebox and had an uncanny ability to recall artists, lyrics, and songs from every era.

Above all, Scott will be remembered for the way he loved. His infectious smile, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to family and friends left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His warmth, humor, optimism, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel welcome and valued. He had a unique gift for connecting with people and turning acquaintances into lifelong friends. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, resilience, and generosity.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia Carson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Vicki Carson; his daughters, Lindsay Carson and Meredith Carson; as well as his brother, Jeff (Helen) Carson; sister, Christie (Greg) Goebel; mother-in-law, Pat (John) Hager; sisters-in-law, Valerie (Wayne) Hagin, Kasey (John) Ames, Kris (Mark) Nusbaum, and Karin (Josh) Selzer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Thursday, June 25th, at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kansas. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30am, with the Funeral Mass at 11am on Friday, June 26th, at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9405 Mission Rd, Leawood, Kansas.  Lunch location after the service will be shared soon.

In lieu of flowers, Scott’s family invites gifts to Gift of Life in his memory. A donation in Scott’s honor carries forward the work he loved: educating the next generation, supporting transplant patients and families, and bringing hope where it is needed most. Gifts In Memory of Scott Carson may be made at www.giftdonor.org or mailed to Gift of Life, Inc., 6405 Metcalf Ave, Suite 109, Overland Park, KS 66202.
